The only thing they need now is an Ecco: Defender of the Future preview and review.
Mobius 1, You were told that DotF was NOT considered part of the original series. But still, the magazine scans were interesting.
when are we going get Hires images of Vallejo’s “Dolphin” and “Dolphin2″ ?
Hm, I have them somewhere, I think. I’ll put them up soon with the box scans of all the different versions once that section is ready.
Thanks for the reminder!
“This snippet mentions “The Original Ecco the Dolphin” in Ecco 2 MCD “if you play the game right”. What the hell were they talking about?”
Do you think this may be refering to the videos on the Ecco 2 CD (the 3D ones that tell the story of Ecco 1)?
The spanish mag seems to be based from the X11 build, but on the second page (http://ecco-darksea.com/magazine/e2md_preview_spanish_page2.jpg) there is a shot of the mirror image building charge (to eat a fish?)… Not sure where that happens in X11 (in present-day levels), unless it was from an earlier build where was one like that in two tides
Ops I have to post another thing… It says in here
(http://ecco-darksea.com/magazine/e2md_segamagazine_issue7_preview.jpg)
that the water tubes where the leftover structures of the vortex harvesting on the seas… I never thought about this before… Ummm
I suspect the magazine authors made that up. That appears to be X11, considering that the future shot is from the right tube in Upstair, while the 3D stages are the X11/E2A version (the “air” bar is at the top left rather than the top right as in the next version, and the final has rings instead of air). That version does mention that the tubes are because the oceans are alive, but I don’t remember where; it’s possible that the previewer just missed that part.
Unfortunately, the shot with the palm trees is hard to place, seeing how there’s no other details whatsoever.
Also, that mirror dolphin is in Home Bay in X11. It only swims away normally, but there may be some way to get it to do that; there doesn’t appear to be a fish in its detection range (I’d think it’d have to be visible there if it was going to attack it?). It’s possible that an earlier version wanted a fish, but it can’t be too much earlier seeing how the life/air bars are on the right (E2A has them on the left).
The other Ecco, he gets in my way, but I can see you can make him chatge away normally…Hmmm… Why would he be programmed to want some food? While he was eating, you could sneak past him without sing/talking to him and he tells you about the tele rings, and Ecco (The REAL one) already knows about them!
I think I’ve made my point. (P.S- the BBS is full to exploding with spam, the first 2 pages only have 1 Ecco- related article in them!)
I wish I could edit my other post, but X11 dosen’t have TwoTides (My fav music is on that level!) and the final dosen’t have Broken Glyph(which was split into The Lost Orcas and Crystal Springs) just as E2A is the only build with the Sea of Crabs, (Gotta love those CrabSnakes!) but I think when I was using Kega and it freaked out on me and gave me an unknown level, that level was like a plantless and crabless Sea of Crabs!
Again, I would edit if it would let me.
Nevermind the post above, Two Tides is called Between a Times in X11,I just remembered! (Wait what?) that’s incorrect grammer, it should be “Between Times”!) shouldn’t it?
Ok, just sent in some English translations of the German articles. Hopefully admin puts them up soon.
