Ecco II for Game Gear Run-Through
I’ve been putting this off for long enough, but tonight I’m going to bite the bullet and run you guys through Ecco II for Game Gear, and detail (most of) what’s wrong with this unfinished, half-broken excuse of an Ecco port. What’s more, I’ll be doing this without the aid of alcohol without the aid of hard liquor. Wish me luck in what is destined to be either a very brave or a very foolish endeavor.
In addition, I’ll be comparing elements of this game to early prototypes of Ecco II for Genesis/MegaDrive to illustrate how this title appears to have ended its development prematurely after, for a time, mirroring the development of the Genesis/MD version. What caused E2GG to be left in such a piteous unfinished state? This may remain a mystery, but rest assured I am working to find out. In the meantime, let’s dig through this 8-bit disasterpiece and see just where it went wrong. (Spoiler: Everywhere)
